1.) Chinese Tattoos * Please read before getting one

All names are created by "transliteration aka sounds like" there is no such thing as translation as Chinese names have nothing in common with western names.  So the name Bob Smith becomes in Chinese as "BaBu SaMiTa."A Chinese person would read the text as "bob smith" but only by sound, and assume that's your name.   The literal meaning could translate to "eight, step, what, her"  depending on artists word choice.

Artzbox.com and artist are not liable for any loss, disfigurement if you choose to go ahead and get a tattoo with our name translations.

2.) Can you post larger image?

4.) Can I get a refund if I don't like my name?

No due to concerns of fraud there is no refund for services rendered.

5.) How do you translate a name to Chinese?

I used mostly transliteration for most of the names here.

1. The first way is simple transliteration, using Chinese characters whose pronunciations are similar to the syllables of an English name. The name "Clinton" is transliterated ke4 lin2 dun4. The words are chosen for thier sound that is closest to the English word the meaning however gets lost in translation.

A certain limited set of Chinese characters has come into common use for transliteration purposes, but I don't know the exact rules for how to transliterate a name (in any case, Taiwan and mainland China have different rules and use different characters). The problem with transliterated names like this is they are bit clumsy. They're often much longer than ordinary Chinese names, and they look and sound obviously "foreign".

2. Translation -- rendering the meaning of the original name. For example, 'Rotbard' (German) translated into 'Redbeard' (English). This is hardest as most Western names simply do not have a Chinese equivalent. Translation of the meaning. This is mostly used for works of literature, e.g., 'Cinderella' becomes Hui1 Gu1-niang ('cinder/ash girl').

6.) What is the Chinese alphabet?

The Chinese do not have alphabets but a system of strokes. So it is impossible to translate initials.  All names here are translated by transliteration aka "sounds like"

7.) How did this whole name thing get started

Originally, I created some Chinese name translations for my friends, pretty soon it expanded out to my friends of my friends and other internet people. I posted thier names on this website mainly so I wouldn't have to keep resending a name I did before.
